I’m reading Sarah’s Key right now and am enthralled. My favorite read of the year: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. AMAZING.

I read Sarah’s Key recently too and saw the movie. I thought the movie was great, it really captured the message of the book and was very moving. I just finished a young adult series, The Secret Circle, I really want to read The Kitchen Daughter next, heard good things!

I loved this post, I always enjoy reading book reviews. Sarah’s Key looks like an amazing book, I’ll have to read that. A couple weeks ago I read One Day, I absolutely loved it and I couldn’t put it down. It was such a beautiful and heartbreaking story and I have yet to see the movie. Right now I’m reading George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. This one is going to take me a while…

My boyfriend and I saw Sarah’s Key at the movies a few weeks ago, and we both loved it! About 80 percent of the movie is in French, which was very interesting–and very authentic, I thought. It definitely made me want to read the book! I usually read the book versions of things before I see the movie versions, so I’ll be interested to see how the story played out on the page. 🙂

You should read “The School of Essential Ingredients” — I think you would love it!

I just started The Violets of March. Only on Chapter 3 but it’s great so far. I finished the Hunger Games series and Room in the span of 1 week. completely devoured those books.

Just finished reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Reuben. Started reading The Greater Journey by David McCullough. Love his books. Am also reading the three-volume series on The Civil War by Shelby Foote. I tend to read more than one book at a time.

I loved The Friendship Bread book. I all ready made 3 of the recipes in the back! thanks for the other book ideas..Im going to hit the library!

Loved the Kate Jacobs books and Sarah’s Key was one of the more haunting stories that I have read in the last few years — one of the previous comments highlighted Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and I wholeheartedly agree. I would also throw Alice Genova’s books out there – “Still Alice” will stay with you long after the book is put down and “Left Neglected” in also quite compelling.

My sister in law just recommended Sarah’s Key to me, so now I’ll have to put it on my Kindle. Glad to hear about the other two Knitting books. Read the first one and Comfort Food and enjoyed them, but I have a hard time with books that are series, usually not liking the later ones. I’ll have to get them. Thanks for the recommendations. You probably won’t have much time to read soon.

Also–have you read Ruth Reichls books? I read all of hers and enjoyed them!

The Movie Sarah’s Key was just as good as the book. I cried the entire movie and loved every single moment of it. (Well, I didn’t love the horrible events – but the story was told so well.)

Yes, my girls and I loved Sarah’s Key. Haven’t seen the movie yet because I was afraid they would ruin the story as they usually do when books go to movies. Glad to hear it was good. Read Shanghai Girls by Lisa See, she’s a wonderful author. I just finished the sequel, Dreams of Joy. I’m sorry to lose the characters now that I finished the books. Mrs. Kimble by Jennifer Haigh is also good. My friends and I had a virtual book club this summer, just sharing good titles with each other. It was a fun experience. I LOVE the Friday Night Knitting Club books! I enjoy reading about the bonds between the family and friends. A favorite recent read was Julia’s Chocolates by Cathy Lamb. It’s all over the place in a good way (family, abusive relationships, following your dreams, love story) and I loved it to pieces!

I am currently reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Lovely story so far about 2 girls/women in China. I recently read Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin. It’s about the girl who inspired Alice in Wonderland. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it at first, but by the end I really enjoyed it. Very touching and real.

Oh my gosh, I am LOVING the Friday Night Knitting Club! I’ve never paid much attention to book suggestions from people, mostly because I used to just buy the book, so I didn’t want to waste my money if it wasn’t any good. But after realized that the last three books my sister has suggested have been terrible (and after becoming better acquainted with the local library!) I saw your post and decided to give it a go. Thanks for sharing, I’m LOVING having something new and wonderful to enjoy!

I have been wanting to read the knitting club but shyed away because it looked like it was about sewing (and I like you have no knowledge of how a needle and thread work). I will have to read them now. Thanks for the recommendations!
