Easy to Make Churros!

The best part about this Spanish Churros Recipe with Homemade Chocolate Sauce is how easy it is to make. You’re talking about less than 25 minutes from starting to serving hot and fresh churros! This is the Churrera I used to make my churros. It’s made in Spain, made of high-quality materials and fairly priced. Otherwise you can use a piping bag or ziplock bag to make these churros, yet I don’t recommend it since the churros won’t cook the same. Ingredients

FOR THE CHURROS

  • -1 cup water
  • -1 cup all-purpose flour
  • -1/2 tsp sea salt

FOR THE CHOCOLATE SAUCE

  • -1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • -2 tbsp organic oat milk
  • -1/4 tsp vanilla extract

EXTRAS

  • -1/2 cup virgin Spanish olive oil
  • white sugar to coat

Instructions

  1. Add 1 cup of water into a sauce pan along with 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and heat it with a medium-high heat, once it comes to a light boil remove from the heat and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour into the sauce pan and mix vigorously until you form a sticky dough, then transfer the dough onto a flat surface and let cool for about a minute, then lightly knead the dough for 1-2 minutes until you form a compact dough

  2. Transfer the dough into a churrera or piping pag and start making the churros, the ideal length is between 5-6 inches, make sure to have a piece of parchment paper underneath so the churros don't stick

  3. Heat a small non-stick frying pan with a medium heat and add 1/2 cup virgin olive oil, once the oil get's piping hot start adding the churros, you want to cook them in batches that way you don't over-crowd the pan, fry them between 5-6 minutes until golden brown and turn them occasionally, then transfer to a plate with paper towels

  4. Roll the cooked churros on white sugar to coat them and transfer to a plate

  5. To make the chocolate sauce add 1 cup of water to a sauce pan and heat with a medium-high heat, once it comes to a boil place a bowl on top and add 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons milk and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, mix until the chocolate has melted and you form a sauce, about 3 minutes, then remove from the heat, continue to mix and trasfer the sauce into a smaller bowl, place the bowl on the plate with the churros and serve at once

  6. Enjoy!

I thought this recipe helped me learn a lot and it was very easy to read and understand. Frying the churros was very difficult, and we worried that they were raw because they were cooking much faster then the directions said they would. At first we didn’t think they would turn out well because the dough did not taste very good and we thought the ingredients were too simple, but they tasted amazing! Mucho gracias

We’ve never made Churros before, and they were so fun to make! They were quick and easy, but they taste really good! I learned that you can easily substitute when you don’t have the items you need. (example we didn’t have a deep fryer but used a pan instead) Thank you for sharing the recipe and teaching us that the most important step is to measure your ingredients carefully and accurate. 🙂 -Hailey, Sophia, Lily
