Kids can float among the clouds and touch a colorful rainbow with this awesomeRainbow Noodles and Fluffy Clouds sensory activity. It’s perfect for spring, learning about weather, or having some St. Patrick’s Day fun with the kids.

I have to admit, my kids were having so much fun that I had to join in and play with them. From personal experience I can tell you the “clouds” feel so silky smooth and the rainbow strands feel cold and soft… that your hands won’t want to stop exploring this rainbow sensory bin.

Little Tiger and Little Dragon loved everything about this colorful noodle activity. At one point I’m pretty sure someone’s foot ended up in the rainbow noodlestoo, lol…someone wanted to walk on clouds :).

Rainbow and Clouds Sensory Play Activity for Kids

Supplies:

Large bin

Shaving Cream-affiliate link

Spaghetti noodles

Food coloring-affiliate link

Bowls or Sensory Tray

Directions:

To make the rainbow noodles cook noodles in boiling water, drain the water, divide into bowls, add food coloring and stir noodles until they reach the color you want. I let our noodles set overnight in the fridge and then in the morning I rinsed them with water to remove any extra food coloring.

Squirtshaving cream in the sensory bin and add rainbow noodleson the top. You may want to prepare for some mess before letting the kids play but don’t worry it really is an easy activity to clean up afterwards. Since the noodles are dyed before the activity, the messiest thing to clean up is shaving cream which washes off with water. I laid downa Plastic Tablecloth-affiliate linkon the floor and one on the activity table and put the kids in their painting smocks-affiliate link. When the activity was done I wrapped it all up and threw them in the garbage. I could have washed them off with water but we have used them a lot and it was time for them to go.

After the kids had explored the noodles and shaving cream thoroughly I added somelittle cooking utensils-affiliate linkfor the kids to stir their noodles with. At this point Little Tiger started building with her noodles because the shaving cream was holding them together so well. We had tasty rainbow cakes and cupcakes. Little Tiger just kept exclaiming how fun this activity was, “This is so cool mom!” At one point he was standing on his chair because he was so happy.

Be prepared to promptly usher kids to the sink when they are done playing. This is what Little Dragon looked like when he was done–notice the smile from ear to ear. When both kids were done playing I emptied their sensory bins into my kitchen strainer and rinsed the noodles off. I stuck them in an airtight container and put them in the fridge.
