Power to Pursue, women’s well•being summit! I remember last year feeling so full from our spring summit, I needed to slow down, focus on the divorce, my heart, work was plenty as is. And this vision to create a second summit dropped so gently in my lap, through prayer & tears, of discovering so much through the divorce and realizing women don’t have access to rooms where these deeper conversations are taking place. I called everyone on my team- what do you think, are we crazy, can we lift another summit and they all said- H*LL YES, build it, we got it. And like that, last fall the well•being summit was born. This summit from P2P has the same commitment - to create a safe space for women to be seen, heard & loved in, and this summit is hyper focused on the sexual, financial & mental well•being of women. We had a blast with 250 women, talking ALL the things, the questions coming in were 🥵🥵 and the impact was felt. Here we are building year two and wow! We’ve got a mental health panel where we’re bringing a therapist in from Scottsdale Arizona to talk about the over functioning woman, intuitive eating, embodiment exercise to help get us in our bodies, a talk called- this isn’t your parents sex ed, a beautiful fireside chat between Ashley Solomon of @galiacollaborative and @rachel.cargle and a rapid fire panel where we’re dedicating almost an hour with an expert in each category to answer anything you can ask! Kroger Health is joining us for health screenings, we’ve got @pinkribbongood bringing their hands on van to feel different breast lumps, @hervpod , product drive for @sweetcheekscincy & so much more! I love being a mom, and I am beyond grateful to my boys, and having a daughter is a whole other experience! Maybe because I was so close to my mom or maybe because I’ve spent the last few decades untangling limited beliefs of what a girl/woman is. All that to say, as Power to Pursue has continued to grow and create room for women the question has been asked 1000 times- what about our girls? Realizing us, at 30,40,50 and beyond we are learning our worth, how to use our voice, asking for the raise, feeling like enough, I knew in my heart of hearts that maybe if we can have these conversations earlier maybe just maybe we all work towards generations of healthy young ladies who are confident, secure in their bodies, belief in their belonging and beyond. So with that, I am beyond proud to announce P2P Teens! We held a listening session earlier this year and phew, y’all, these girls are ready! They want to talk body image, periods, financial understanding, tools to calm, sexual preference and so much more! Our plan is to host a quarterly event for all who identify as female, giving them their own rooms, led by incredible leaders who are ready & willing to listen, support & lift! We’ve got some incredible support wrapped around this body of work- thank you to @tarakatelitmer , the @mdc.designstudio team, 1819 Innovation Hub for being our host sponsor, @gotrcincinnati and @hccwg_ohio , volunteers and facilitators who are working on this! With this being a new body of work we will work through details this year & have sponsorship opportunities in 2025! Good n’ Local Did you know that a dedicated group of folks recently launched a project called @goodnlocalfoodshow?It’s a membership based organization whose goal it is is to support food entrepreneursacross our region to grow their wholesale business. Through being a member, which is $200 for a year long membership you get:Free Booth at our Food Show Free Access to all of our bimonthly events Mentoring, Connection, Support. You can still access our programming & food show by a per ticket basis (the membership will just help you save money) Our goal with the food show is to bridge a gap between entrepreneurs & the buyers who are looking for local products from the big stores to the mom & pop markets! What fun it has been working with our board, Matt & Stephen on getting The Good People Festival relaunched after a 4 year hiatus. This event, like everything is special. It’s a day celebrating entrepreneurs, community, amazing food and great music. This year we chose to revive this festival & make it a signature fundraiser for the IKC. That also means that this event that was free in the past is now ticketed (bonus- we get to pay the musicians, we get to have incredible food for our VIP ticket holders, we get to raise funds to support a kitchen that has helped over 180 food entrepreneurs get started & grow, renting space supporting another small business owner, the list goes on and on). I’m proud of how we can keep growing & shifting this event, bringing good people together to celebrate good people. This is a bit different of a post here for me, a special project that I’m so proud & grateful to be part of. A vision from my dad, a way to honor my mom, his wife after she passed in 2020 from early onset Alzheimer’s. We put a show together last year exploring grief & loss, the team submitted it to the Cincinnati Fringe Festival and it was accepted. Starting this Sunday through June 9th we will be doing 5 performances - it includes poetry, prose, song & dance. It explores grief & loss and shines light & hope.
