Endless Ocean Luminous, the latest in Nintendo and developer Arika’s cult aquatic exploration games, is out now, and completing the game’s story mode is no easy task. Doing so requires you to completely fill in the “Mystery Board,” a grid featuring 99 different achievement-style tasks. To make matters even more complicated, the game doesn’t inform you how to solve any of these mysteries, you just have to stumble on the solutions yourself through trial and error. Mystery Board Basics
The maps in Endless Ocean Luminous are procedurally generated, which means I can’t provide you with specific locations or instructions on how to unlock any of the squares on the Mystery Board – it’s all luck of the draw. That said, there are different types of achievements on the board, so here’s some guidance on how to approach them.
- Disc Puzzles – These mysteries ask you to “swim aside” a specific creature (look at #32 below for an example). How these puzzles work, is you have to find a large disc on the ocean floor and scan it. You’ll then be given a clue. Determine what creature the clue was referring to, find them, have them swim with you and return to the disc with them.
- UMLs – Number 9 though 18 on the board require you to scan specific UMLs (Unique Marine Lifeforms). Here’s how to make a UML appear on your map.
- Coins – These coins can be randomly found while scavenging (look for glints of light on the ocean floor).
- Treasure Chests – Look for treasure chests (they look like blue and black blocks) and open them to hopefully find the specific treasure required.
- Tablets – The mysteries with quotes like #3 below are acquired by finding small lore tablets.
- Landmarks - Simply swim past the landmark in question.
So, without further ado, here’s how to unlock all 99 squares on Endless Ocean Luminous’ Mystery Board…
1 - “The Time of the Primordial” Obtained the fish coin.
2 - “From a Faraway Land” Discovered a treasure chest with a meteorite in it.
3 - “Adapa and the Others Descend” "Seven sages, including Adapa, came to this land to bring about Ea's plan..."
4 - “Broken Ninlil” Obtained the boat coin.
5 - “The Gray World” Discovered a treasure chest with a white gemstone in it.
6 – “The Land of the Gridded Board” Obtained the shell coin.
7 – “No Way Out” "Using the glorious wisdom of Ea, Utuabzu created Ninlil. But as Ninlil's large wings spread out among the stars, they caught on the largest of mountains and were irreparably broken..."
9 – “Golden Wings” Scanned Raja Emas.
10 – “Black Oar” Scanned Grand Ancestor.
11 – “Blue Harpoon” Scanned Lancia Presto.
12 – “Distant Observers” Scanned Simurgh Daria.
13 – “The Earthen House” Scanned Rosier Rose.
14 – “Receptors for Light” Scanned Amamotsumi.
15 – “Pale Boatman” Scanned Jawhara Tajir.
16 – “Eternal Iron” Scanned Mertz.
17 – “Observers of the Abyss” Scanned Lamba Apsara.
18 – “Four Repeaters” Scanned Yurlungur.
19 – “Wanderlust” Discovered a community of soft corals. Different from kelp, these soft corals use tentacles to capture prey.
20 – “Sea of Ice” Reached a room surrounded by ice.
21 - ”Sea of Sacred Wine” Reached a room in a tower.
22 – “Lake of Dreams” Reached the interior of an island.
23 – “Valley of the Bade” Reached a room in a canyon.
24 – “Shadow of Albedo “ Discovered a treasure chest with a black gemstone in it.
25 – “In a Silent Sea” Reached the innermost part of the ocean depths.
26 – “Finding the Water of Life” Obtained the droplet coin.
27 – “Flowing from the Giant Vase” Obtained the whirlpool coin.
28 – “Struck by a Great Tidal Wave” “Adapa finally found the water of life, but so tremendous was its rush that he barely managed to control it..."
29 – “With Two Small Branches” Obtained the World Coral coin.
30 – “Tuned” Discovered a treasure chest with a classical guitar in it.
31 – “The Time of Calm” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "A Legend of the Sea God."
32 – “Where Life Branched” Honored the request to swim aside "a creature of countless blades."
33 – “Omen of Prosperity” Discovered a community of kelp clustered together in a narrow space. Under the right conditions, kelp can grow to a remarkable size.
34 – “Seven Sages” Discovered a treasure chest with a seven-branched sword in it.
35 – “Finite” Discovered a community of huge corals. Despite the colony being several hundred years old, it continues to grow.
36 – “With Blue Bird” Obtained a bird coin.
37 – “The Chosen Ones” Discovered a treasure chest with an islanders' stone statue in it.
38 – “Two-Pronged Key” Obtained the anchor coin.
39 – “The Ways of the World” Honored the request to swim aside "that which is adorned with needles."
40 – “To Inherit Wisdom” Discovered a treasure chest with a laurel wreath in it.
41 – “Setting Sun” Obtained the horizon coin.
42 – “Apkallu's Sleep” “Adapa refused eternal life, and the other Apkallu followed. They believed that those people they had given civilization to should rule the land..."
43 – “Utuabzu” Honored the request to swim aside "that which sails as it swims."
44 – “Who Made Ninlil” Discovered a treasure chest with a cruiser model in it.
45 – “An-Enlilda” Obtained the ruler's coin.
46 – “Technician of Ea” Discovered a treasure chest with a telescope in it.
47 – “Enmegalamma” Honored the request to swim aside "a shark favoring white."
48 – “Scholar of Abundance” Discovered a treasure chest with a book of biological illustrations in it.-
49 – “Enmebulugga” Honored the request to swim aside "a fish that dreams of the sky."
50 – “The Benevolent Steward” Discovered a treasure chest with herbal hand cream in it.
51 – “Enmedugga” Honored the request to swim aside "a fish favored by a celestial body, be it blazing or barren."
52 – “Who Was Allotted a Good Fate” Discovered a treasure chest with an 18K gold necklace in it.
53 – “Uannedugga” Honored the request to swim aside "a beast bearing a long spear."
54 – “Spreader of Knowledge” Discovered a treasure chest with a travel magazine in it.
55 – “Adapa” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Squire's Memoir.”
56 – “The First Tuner and...” Obtained the bugle coin.
57 – “Those with Unfinished Plans” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Unnamed Biography - Final Chapter."
58 – “The Time of Waves” “As time passed, the stories and lessons of the Apkallu faded from history to legend. The peace they had brought faded as well, as people lived by their own will...”
59 – “Ancient King” Obtained the crown coin.
60 – “Tower of the Oracle” “The Apkallu built a tower high into the sky such that they could gaze upon both land and sea. Atop this tower a mighty fire was lit, and it served as a beacon for the great sea...”
61 – “Prayer for Tuning” Honored the request to swim aside "the white bug crawling upon the seafloor."
62 – “Homeostasis” Discovered a treasure chest with amber in it.
63 – “Witness the Ocean Currents” Discovered a treasure chest with an old underwater camera in it.
64 - “Pulse of the Earth” Honored the request to swim aside "that which pulls its barb across the seafloor."
65 – “The Cycle of Life” Obtained the whalebone coin.
66 – “And So, Time Passed” Discovered a treasure chest with petrified wood in it.
67 – “Beyond Oblivion” Obtained the dragon coin.
68 – “Things Born in the Sea” Honored the request to swim aside "that which lives in this expanse."

75 – “The People Revolt” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Pirate Code."
76 – “The Fishing Fires Are Lit” Obtained the bull coin.
77 – “The Fall of the Royal Family” “Those who had followed the Apkallu's commands and had been given their wisdom were cast out by those jealous of such wisdom. The Oannes, by splitting themselves so, were the cause of their own collapse...”
78 – “The New King” Obtained the Sword coin.
79 – “An Unfit Succession” Discovered a strange rock piercing into the ground. The area surrounding it was sunken in, forming a crater that made it seem like the rock had fallen from the sky.
80 – “The Withered Branch” Obtained the leaf coin.
81 – “The Key Has Become Scrap” “The two-pronged spear, inheritance from the Apkallu, was regarded as little more than scrap by foolish rulers. The land rumbled and eerie echoes rebounded...”
82 – “Runaway Power” Obtained the beast coin.
83 – “The Lighthouse Sinks” “The sea and the land, filled with a power they knew not what to do with, collided with one another. The tower sank into the sea, and the Oannes were scattered and lost to time...”
84 – “Disturbed Rhythm” Honored the request to swim aside “life that bears a hammer.”
85 – “The Road to Ruin” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Unnamed Biography - Introduction."
86 – “Black Sky” Discovered a treasure chest with a satellite antenna in it.
87 – “Back to the Gray World” Obtained the new-moon coin.
88 – “Testament of Enmedugga” “Fortunate Enmedugga left words to a select few. Words that told how to regulate the great waters and maintain peace...”
89 – “With Luck Rivaling Enmedugga, Obtained a Terminal” Discovered a treasure chest with a white whale figurine in it.
90 – “Working with the Effort of Enmebulugga” Obtained the arrow coin.
91 – “Lit All Squares with the Intelligence of Uannedugga” Discovered a treasure chest with a mysterious stone tablet in it.
92 – “With Intentions as Pure as Enmegalamma” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Someone's Birthday Note."
93 – “Displaying the Reserve Vessels of Utuabzu” “Utuabzu grew concerned over Adapa's recklessness. When the time was right and Adapa was away, Utuabzu stole Adapa's spear and created a duplicate...”
94 – “Recorded on the Terminal of An-Enlilda” Discovered a treasure chest with a lapis lazuli tablet in it.
95 – “ Mission Entrusted by Adapa” “Adapa—sent by Ea—had created civilization, and though he tried, he could not forget the purpose civilization was meant to serve. Meanwhile, Ninlil would not move and would not return to Ea...”
96 – “The Knowledge of Ea That Tuned Earth and Sea” “The glorious wisdom of Ea could solve any problem in all of creation. Even the stars of the night sky could be controlled if so desired. With even a fraction of such power, the peace of the world could be reserved...”
97 – “With Seven Souls That Cannot Return to Heaven” Obtained the treasure mentioned in "Merchant's Letter."
98 – “To All Life Born on Earth” Discovered a variation of a UML.
99 – “Let There Be an Eternal Cycle and Peace” Scanned several different UML variations.
And there you go – that’s what's required to unlock the entire Mystery Board. Again, Endless Ocean Luminous maps are randomized, so there’s going to be a fair amount of trial and error and repetition required to do it all. This Reddit spreadsheet does include a handful of Dive-Site IDs that will take you to specific maps that contain some of the harder-to-solve mysteries, but beyond that, you’re just going to have to stick with it.
